PURPOSE AND SCOPE

This policy establishes standards for assignment to the Office of Professional Standards.


ELIGIBILITY

Deputies applying for OPS should:


  • Be in good standing with the department.
  • Demonstrate exceptional professionalism.
  • Possess strong judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Have a thorough understanding of department policies and procedures.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

OPS personnel are expected to maintain the highest standards of integrity, impartiality, and professionalism. Investigators shall conduct themselves in a manner that promotes confidence in the disciplinary and accountability processes of the department.


REMOVAL FROM ASSIGNMENT

A Deputy may be removed from OPS for misconduct, breach of confidentiality, inactivity, poor performance, bias in investigations, policy violations, or any other reason deemed appropriate by Command Staff.
