8.5 Disciplinary Recommendations

PURPOSE AND SCOPE

This policy establishes procedures regarding disciplinary recommendations resulting from OPS investigations.

POLICY

OPS may provide recommendations to Command Staff regarding corrective or disciplinary action when policy violations are identified.

FACTORS FOR CONSIDERATION

Recommendations may consider:

• Severity of the violation.
• Prior disciplinary history.
• Impact on department operations.
• Risk to public trust.
• Acceptance of responsibility.

FINAL AUTHORITY

OPS may recommend disciplinary action; however, final disciplinary decisions remain the responsibility of Command Staff and the Sheriff.
