PURPOSE AND SCOPE

The Office of Professional Standards (OPS) is responsible for maintaining the integrity, accountability, and professionalism of the Gold County Sheriff's Office. OPS conducts administrative investigations involving allegations of misconduct, policy violations, and other matters affecting the operations or reputation of the department.


POLICY

OPS shall conduct all investigations in a fair, impartial, and professional manner. Investigations shall seek to establish facts, ensure accountability, and uphold the standards of the Gold County Sheriff's Office.


RESPONSIBILITIES

OPS Deputies shall:


  • Investigate allegations of misconduct.
  • Review complaints submitted by civilians and department personnel.
  • Conduct administrative investigations.
  • Maintain investigative records.
  • Make recommendations regarding policy compliance.
  • Assist Command Staff with disciplinary matters.

PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS

OPS personnel shall remain objective throughout all investigations and shall avoid conflicts of interest that may compromise investigative integrity.
