7.7 CID Selection & Retention

PURPOSE AND SCOPE

This policy establishes standards for assignment to the Criminal Investigation Division.

ELIGIBILITY

Deputies applying for CID should:

• Be in good standing with the department.
• Demonstrate strong report-writing abilities.
• Possess sound investigative judgment.
• Maintain professionalism and activity requirements.
• Have a thorough understanding of department policies and criminal investigations.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

CID Deputies are expected to maintain a high level of investigative competence, professionalism, and integrity. Investigators shall devote sufficient time and effort to assigned cases and maintain accurate case documentation.

REMOVAL FROM ASSIGNMENT

A Deputy may be removed from CID for inactivity, misconduct, poor performance, policy violations, or any other reason deemed appropriate by Command Staff.
