PURPOSE AND SCOPE

The Criminal Investigation Division (CID) is responsible for conducting follow-up investigations involving criminal offenses occurring within the jurisdiction of the Gold County Sheriff's Office. CID Deputies are tasked with gathering evidence, identifying suspects, preparing cases for prosecution, and assisting patrol personnel with complex investigations.


POLICY

CID Deputies shall conduct investigations in a professional, impartial, and thorough manner. All investigations shall be conducted in accordance with department policy and applicable laws.


RESPONSIBILITIES

CID Deputies shall:


  • Conduct criminal investigations.
  • Interview victims, witnesses, and suspects.
  • Collect and review evidence.
  • Prepare investigative reports.
  • Coordinate with patrol personnel.
  • Assist prosecuting authorities when required.
  • Maintain case files and investigative records.

INVESTIGATIVE STANDARDS

CID Deputies shall pursue all investigations objectively and shall consider all available evidence. Investigations shall be conducted without bias, prejudice, or personal interest.
