6.5 Motor Unit Selection & Retention

PURPOSE AND SCOPE

This policy establishes standards for assignment and continued service within the Motor Unit.

ELIGIBILITY

Deputies applying for the Motor Unit should:

• Be in good standing with the department.
• Demonstrate professional conduct and maturity.
• Maintain satisfactory activity levels.
• Possess a strong understanding of traffic enforcement procedures.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

Motor Deputies are expected to maintain a high level of professionalism, activity, and operational competence. Failure to maintain unit standards may result in removal from the Motor Unit at the discretion of Command Staff.

REMOVAL FROM ASSIGNMENT

A Deputy may be removed from the Motor Unit for misconduct, inactivity, poor performance, policy violations, or any other reason deemed appropriate by Command Staff.
