4.5 Warrants & Wanted Persons

PURPOSE AND SCOPE

This policy establishes procedures regarding warrants and wanted persons.

POLICY

Deputies may investigate, locate, and apprehend wanted persons consistent with applicable laws and department policy.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Deputies shall:

• Verify warrant information when practical.
• Exercise caution during apprehensions.
• Coordinate with other units when necessary.
• Properly document all enforcement actions.

OFFICER SAFETY

Deputies should consider the seriousness of the offense, suspect history, and available resources when planning enforcement actions.
