4.3 Scene Management

PURPOSE AND SCOPE

This policy establishes procedures for managing incidents and crime scenes.

POLICY

The first Deputy on scene shall assume responsibility for scene management until relieved by a Supervisor or higher authority.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Deputies shall:

• Secure the scene.
• Protect life and property.
• Preserve evidence.
• Establish perimeters when necessary.
• Coordinate responding resources.

COMMAND

Deputies shall follow established command structures during major incidents.
