PURPOSE AND SCOPE

The purpose of this policy is to establish the standards of conduct expected of all Deputies of the Gold County Sheriff's Office. Deputies are entrusted with significant authority and are expected to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and accountability.


POLICY

Deputies shall conduct themselves in a professional, ethical, and lawful manner at all times. Actions that undermine public confidence or bring discredit upon the department are prohibited.


PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT

Deputies shall:


  • Treat all persons with dignity and respect.
  • Conduct themselves professionally both on and off duty.
  • Follow all department policies and lawful orders.
  • Exercise sound judgment and discretion.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.

PROHIBITED CONDUCT

Deputies shall not:


  • Falsify reports or official records.
  • Abuse their authority.
  • Engage in harassment or discrimination.
  • Violate department policy.
  • Act in a manner that damages public trust.

DISCIPLINARY ACTION

Violations of this policy may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.
