10.1 Air Operations Joint Division Task Force (JDT)

The Air Operations Joint Division Task Force (JDT) is a cooperative assignment between the Gold County Sheriff's Office and the California Highway Patrol (CHP). Through this partnership, select Gold County Sheriff's Deputies may be assigned to assist Air Operations personnel in support of law enforcement missions throughout Gold County.
POLICY
Deputies assigned to the Air Operations JDT shall operate under the policies of both the Gold County Sheriff's Office and the California Highway Patrol while participating in approved Air Operations activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
JDT Deputies may:
- Assist with aerial law enforcement operations.
- Support search and rescue missions.
- Assist with vehicle pursuit coordination.
- Provide aerial observation and intelligence support.
- Participate in joint training exercises.
SELECTION REQUIREMENTS
Deputies applying for Air Operations shall:
- Be in good standing with the department.
- Demonstrate professionalism and maturity.
- Maintain satisfactory activity levels.
- Receive approval from both GCSO Command Staff and Air Operations leadership.
CHAIN OF COMMAND
While assigned to Air Operations activities, Deputies shall comply with lawful orders issued by authorized Air Operations supervisors and shall maintain communication with Gold County Sheriff's Office Command Staff.
ASSIGNMENT STATUS
Assignment to the Air Operations JDT is considered a privilege and may be revoked at any time by either the Gold County Sheriff's Office or the California Highway Patrol.
